Reading comprehension will make the teacher's job easier in class as long as it is measurable. There are two types of questions that are most preferred and considered high-level in textbooks. The first of these is the question that begins with "If you were...". No matter what the student says about this question, the answer is very correct. The second is the question of the type "Are your parents optimistic or pessimistic?" The student does not need to read the text to answer this question. These two types of questions do not develop reading comprehension skills and make the teacher passive in the process.
The most up-to-date version of the cognitive classification (taxinomy) efforts that started in 1956 have been developed in the book. While designing the reading comprehension questions, the "2024 Reading Comprehension Cognitive Classification" and "2022 PISA Reading Skills Proficiency Levels" developed were taken into consideration. The teacher will have his students analyze and synthesize using the classification in the book, make hypotheses, and while doing this, manage the analysis process of his students and question whether they have completed the necessary steps for synthesis.
You will not be alone while performing the pre-reading, reading and post-reading processes; chick will accompany you throughout the journey. Let's get started!
