Motor vehicles are complex machines made with the contributions of many people working in the fields of science and engineering. Vehicles are indispensable tools that have an important place in our daily lives as users or beneficiaries.
The purpose of the Vehicle Mechanics book is to enable the students who are studying at the undergraduate level about automotive, which is the target audience, to recognize and analyze these vehicles, and to create an infrastructure for their design and professional life.
Some of the topics in the book are: Forces acting on the vehicle, engine and transmission (clutch, gearbox, propeller shaft, differential and rear bridge) characteristics, wheel and tire mechanics, vehicle aerodynamics, uphill and acceleration resistances, forces in linear vehicle motion, braking performance and brakes, suspension system, chassis and bodywork, vehicle handling characteristics and steering system, driving characteristics.
SI units are used in the book, and care has been taken to use common symbols. In order to reinforce the understanding of the theoretical explanations, a sufficient number of sample problems were solved, and at the end of the chapters, study questions and problems were given for the students.
