The fact that a person is a whole with his/her biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects diversifies the needs and potentials that need to be processed in his/her life. Failure to meet these needs as a whole and failure to reveal and develop these potentials sufficiently can cause a person to feel deprived and to struggle in different processes of his/her life. In particular, ignoring spiritual needs and neglecting the spiritual potential that is inherently present in individuals can cause spiritual deprivation; it can lead to a meaningless, purposeless life, helpless in the face of difficulties.
Today, studies put forward by different disciplines, especially psychology and pedagogy, show that mere material wealth and technological possibilities cannot guarantee the happiness of the individual and society. For this reason, spirituality, which is thought to contribute to the preservation and development of the psychological strength and spiritual serenity of the person, is becoming an increasingly more focal point in the scientific world.
In this book; the necessity, nature, goals, content, method and evaluation of spiritual education are examined by drawing on the data of different disciplines such as religious education, religious psychology and Sufism, and by taking inspiration from the deep-rooted history of Turkish society. The book has revealed that a person can open the door to a higher quality and more satisfying life to the extent of his/her own efforts, thanks to the discovery of the spiritual power within him/her and the morale, motivation, courage and determination nourished by his/her spirituality.
